Carrels/desks Program for Physics Majors

In the fall 2008 we expect to have:

  • carrels in the library
  • carrels on the newly renovated 4th floor of Jadwin
  • desk/lockers in Jadwin A04/5
  • desks/file cabinets in Jadwin A03

The carrels in the library are assigned according to the library rules, but students who have been assigned a carrel in the library will NOT be eligible also for a carrel or a desk in Jadwin. At the beginning of the academic year the Assistant Department Manager Lisa Scalice will assign the carrels/desks in the physics department according to the following priority criteria:

  1. Seniors working in the department who are not assigned a desk or work space by their advisor
  2. Seniors working outside of the department who are not assigned a desk or work space by their advisor

Other seniors (those who are assigned other space in or outside of the department but still want a desk in the department) are entitled to a desk in A04 or A03

  3. Juniors who are doing their JP in the department and are not assigned a desk or work space by their advisor
  4. Juniors who are doing their JP outside of the department and are not assigned a desk or work space by their advisor
  5. All other juniors

The students will receive a key of the carrel/locker/file cabinet in exchange for a $10 deposit, which will be returned to them when the keys are returned at the end of the academic year. It is responsibility of each student to keep their carrel clean and tidy.
